My name is Kelly, I live in Plympton Plymouth in Devon with my husband Gary, my 6 year old son Kurt and my 3 year old Connor. We have a cat called Metallica and a rabbit named Ebony.
My whole career has been based on caring for people, down to my last job as a Heath Care Assistant with Derriford Hospital. I have been childminding now for a few years and love working with children. I changed my career path in order to look after my eldest and have been childminding full time ever since.
I love the outdoors and growing my own vegetables. I have a plot of land that we rent at the local allotment and it’s only a 5 min drive from the house.
I also enjoy going on different outings with the children, whether it be a walk to the local park, woods, or a trip to the zoo. It gives me great satisfaction watching them enjoying and learning from different surroundings. Take a look at the Outings Page for details of some of the places I take the children.
I enjoy cooking and incorporate that with the children whether it is getting them to help prepare their meals, making cakes or biscuits. I find that children like to get their hands dirty and feel the different textures in the food so this is ideal for educating as well as just being good fun.
I have a nice large patio area for the children to play on. They can interact with the rabbit, play with the sand and water, ride a bike or try their hand at growing something in a flower bed I have provided.
Indoor I have a range of activities for all age groups ranging from play-dough, drawing, painting and other arts and crafts to toys, puzzle’s and books etc.
If it is bad weather and we can’t go out for any reason, for about 15 min morning and afternoon, I have a fun exercise session for the children to do where they can dance to music or join in with a boogie beebies DVD. I also have the Muzzy (the BBC language course for children) learning system (Parts 1 and 2) in English, Spanish, Italian, French and German to help the children with learning a new language.
