Today at story time we read Handas surprise. After the book we looked at the fruits from the story. The children were fascinated with the pineapple but didnt like the feel of it. We also had tangerine, passion fruit, avocado, mango, orange and banana. They got to handle them all and taste most of them. They all loved it.

We played Greedy Gorilla today. The children had a lot of fun and all of the junk food counters were soon fed to the burping gorilla.

We looked at measurements today. We drew around the children’s feet and then used the templates to measure various things in the house. We then compared the measurements to see how many of each of the children’s foot sizes everything was. We also looked at a tape measure to see how long a “foot” was.

Today the children got to learn about Diwali, the festival of lights and India. They enjoyed looking at the box of indian cultural objects and loved the dress up.

This morning we got out the soft play for the children at the childminders group. They all loved it and had a great time building with it.

Today at the childminders group we set up an easel for the children to paint on. They all had a turn regardless of their age. They all loved it.

Today the children played with a mixture made from dry red lentils, oats & rice. They got to feel the different textures and look at how the different grains reacted to being sieved and dropped.

The older children had a go on the computer today to improve their ICT skills. They played a game called “Why do we have to?” which teaches children about why we have rules.

Today after rhyme time we played “Whose Nose” – a game where the children pick out noses from a bag and match them to the faces on their cards. We also played a guessing game using the animal pictures. We held the picture up in front of our faces and poked our noses through the hole and then asked yes/no questions to identify which of the animals we were.
