Bus Station

We planned to take the children to the Museum today but when we got there it was closed. We then decided to walk the children to the bus station and have a look at the different buses there. I then went and spoke to one of the men in the office to see if they would allow the children to have a look at one of the buses that were not in service. They very kindly said yes then went and got one of their Double Decker’s for them to get on and look at. They drove it to us as we waited and the children were very very excited as it approached us. They got to explore the upstairs and downstairs and didn’t want to leave the bus. They all had a great time.

Sheep Sheering

Today I took the children to a farm to watch some sheep being sheered. They all watched intently and were all very curious at what was going on. They then all got to have a little go at spinning wool and loved every minute of it. They all liked it so much they all wanted another go at it. They then got to make a sheep mask to take home and then did some colouring. We then decided to leave and go and find a quiet spot by a river on the moors to sit and have our picnic. They have all had a really good day and have had a lot to talk about.

Fathers Day Cards

Today the children made fathers day cards. I put red, green, blue and yellow paint in separate bowls and the children rolled a toy car through each paint. They then rolled the car over some black card to make tyre prints over it. They all loved it and got very messy.

Boviesand Beach

Today I took the children to Bovisand beach. They had great fun splashing about in the sea with their boots on and digging in the sand. We all collected some shells and pebbled then made a pretty little pattern with them. We also drew in the sand with the spades. They brought half the beach home with them on their clothes but had a great time.

National Marine Aquarium

We went to the National Marine Aquarium today. The children couldn’t wait to get there and really wanted to see the sharks. After looking around for a while we stopped in front of the shark tank and had a story(we read the very tickly octopus). We then coloured in a picture of a shark that we took with us. At lunch we sat in front of the fish tank while the children ate and they all loved it.

Finger Painting

Today I got out the finger paints and some little stamps for the children to play with. They all loved it and didn’t want to stop painting. They loved pushing their fingers in the paints, they got very messy and enjoyed every minute of it.

Mount Edgecombe

We took a picnic across on the ferry today to mount edgecombe. the children loved the ferry and enjoyed exploring the gardens there. We also took with us a little hand held microscope and collected things to look at as we went around. The children got very enthusiastic and started to pick up all sorts to look at. We played football and chase and had a small walk on the beach before going home again on the ferry. The loved it and all asked to go back again.

Dartmoor Zoo

Today we went to Dartmoor Zoo for the day. The children loved exploring the garden and all wanted to walk independently through it. It was very busy today and crowded but that didn’t stop them from having a great time.

Volcano

We did a simple experiment today with a model volcano, some food colouring , baking powder and vinegar. We mixed some orange food colouring with the vinegar and then tipped it into the volcano which had the baking powder in it. The two different chemicals reacted and frothed up and out over the top or the volcano just like lava. The all watched in amazement and really enjoyed it. I had to stop them all from trying to touch it or we would have ended up with orange fingers.

Colouring Celery

Today I bought some celery so we could do an experiment with it. The children put some food colouring and water in three glasses (blue, green and orange). We then put in the celery sticks. We will watch what happens to the colour of the celery over the next two days.
