I live in Chaddlewood in Plympton in an end terrace property. I have a conservatory which is almost exclusively used for childminding along with the lounge dining room. Baby gates segregate the kitchen and stairs for safety purposes.
Outside Facilities
We are fortunate to have a large garden however the top garden is gated off as it would be unsafe for young children to play on it due to the steps and change in height of the levels. The patio area however is quite large and despite housing a 4 and a half foot rabbit hutch still provides sufficient area to have a large outdoor table, a sand pit, a water play area, a play house and two flower beds set aside for the children.
Inside
I have a small table in the conservatory which is used for arts and crafts, a bookcase of childrens books, a music box whith a variety of percussion, string and wind instruments. The shelving unit in the conservatory contains mostly toys however there are also two boxes of dressing up clothes, ranging from viking to pirate, fairy to wizard and policeman to postal worker.
The other side of the room contains the small kitchen, blackboard, till, shopping basket, post office and plastic food. There is also a garage and lots of scale model toy cars.
I also have a lot of educational and teaching toys such as greedy gorilla, pop to the shops, numeracy and alphabet cards, coloured dominoes, shape sorters, alphabet pal caterpillar etc.
I try wherever possible to provide toys that are stimulating for the mind as well as fun to play with. My 4 year old helps out a lot here by pointing out what he thinks would be good but unfortunately for him he has to save up and buy his hotwheels cars or wait until Santa Clause comes to visit.
